Again, the thoughts in this post are my own personal ones after considering some review articles. They might assist your own beginning thoughts, as you go through (recommended) your own personal education & decisions about using a VPN and if so, which one? When considering VPN use, it is wise to check if your country (or current/intended travel location…) has laws against using one.
Choosing a VPN for a laptop, which ones to consider? Quite a few VPNs get recommended over & over by reviewers. Lots of choice is not necessarily problematical. Another viewpoint: there is a healthy amount of competition & several great VPNs (distinguished in different ways). Questions to ask self which might help inform the choice & use include:
- will I be traveling where VPN use is not allowed?

is cost (a monthly fee?) a big factor?

is there a free trial period offered?
- which VPN has great service (e.g. enough servers nearby) in a specific country?

does the VPN service log my online history/info.? & share it under certain circumstances?

do I want one of the best VPNs for: streaming; torrenting (for lawful/legitimate uses), gaming, fast computer speed, ease of interface?
- have a Mac/Apple laptop?; does the VPN function, or function well, on a Mac/Apple?

Others that I saw recommended often for 2023 use include (& my apologies if I have missed some great ones):

- Private Internet Access (*”The best travel VPN for the US”; “Best VPN for Windows”); &
– CyberGhost (*”best for int’l. server locations”).
As with most software, I would think that improvements & refinements are often in process, others can get promoted to favorites, & new players enter the field.
